Seorang politisi senior dari partai berkuasa Venezuela telah mencela sanksi yang dijatuhkan oleh pemerintah AS terhadap cryptocurrency nasional yang baru-baru ini diluncurkan, didukung petro minyak.
Seperti dilansir CoinDesk, presiden A.S. Donald Trump menandatangani sebuah perintah eksekutif pada hari Senin yang melarang warga negara Amerika dan penduduk untuk membeli atau bertransaksi dalam mata uang digital yang dikeluarkan oleh Venezuela.
Diosdado Cabello, wakil presiden Partai Sosialis Venezuela, mencela tindakan tersebut di Twitter, dengan mengatakan:
“Once again, imperialism is wrong in announcing sanctions and blockades against the brave and dignified Venezuelan people, the sell-out lackeys drool when our people suffer. Let’s raise the flags of Bolivar and Chavez, we will win!!”
Menurut Prensa Latina, kantor berita resmi Kuba, Cabello juga mengomentari sanksi tersebut pada sebuah konferensi pers di ibukota Venezuela, Caracas, Selasa.
Dia dilaporkan mengatakan bahwa Presiden A.S Trump telah gagal mengambil jalur diplomatik atas perselisihan politiknya dengan Venezuela, dan sebaliknya memilih pendekatan “suka perang”.
Berita tersebut muncul tepat sebelum ICO publik dari petro token, yang diperkirakan akan dimulai Senin, menurut surat kabar tersebut. Itu mengikuti pra-penjualan tertutup yang berlangsung dari 20 Februari hingga 19 Maret.
Sejak peluncuran pre-sale petro, presiden Venezuela Nicolas Maduro, telah mengklaim bahwa aset tersebut telah meraup hingga $ 5 miliar, namun tidak ada bukti yang diajukan untuk mendukung klaim tersebut.
